I've been full of good intentions to keep swimming after the Nationals but so far I've only managed one swim.
Tuesday 28th October, the reason for this fairly predictable cessation of swimming activity (well it's winter why bother?).
Actually I hadn't stopped swimming activity because the end of the week became a blur of preparation for 3 days at ASA HQ in Loughborough attending a series of meetings and finalising arrangements for the National Masters Conference.
That's before you take into account the hours I spent putting together my presentation,,, scary stuff I can tell you. I did take my kit and was planning to try out the university pool on Friday afternoon but was rather overtaken by events. The Conference turned out to be great fun, and ticked all of the boxes in terms of our objectives. Steve Bratt's explanation of what makes a successful Masters club, and Maggie Kelly's talk on her experiences as a swimmer, were entertaining, humorous. and fascinating insights into our sport from their own perspectives.
The afternoon was focus groups and I was really impressed that in the groups I dropped into everybody was enthusiastic and contributing in a really positive way. Looking good for next year which is more than I can say for my swimming. Anyway for what it's worth I made the first Tuesday stint after the Nationals and it was down hill all the way from there.
